About The Company

CIWare Labs is a new software company that is addressing the many problems and opportunities in IoT, from a Custom Systems perspective. Our ultimate customer is the Custom Integrator. In our quest to expand the current boundaries of how software can help CI’s, we work closely with manufacturers and ISV’s (Independent Software Vendors) to collaborate and create new products and combinations that ultimately benefit the entire channel.

As of our CEDIA Expo debut in September 2019, we are actively working OEM development projects with hardware and software suppliers. Our plan for releasing the first generally available version of Inprem Studio for use by CI’s in a production mode is Q1 2020.

CIWare Labs is headquartered in Bingen, WA in the beautiful Columbia Gorge, only an hour East of Portland, OR.

Our guiding philosophy is Open Systems, guided by an Agile/Lean iterative approach – and a big dose of partnering.

Management and Key Team

Stephen A. Rogers

Founder & CEO

Stephen is the Chief Executive and bottle washer for CIWare Labs.  If something needs doing, Stephen is either doing it or helping to make it happen.

As a career software/systems architect and engineer, CIWare Labs is a vision he has been in pursuit of for over 30 years, a vision that enticed him out of working on distributed systems architecture at Intel Corporation, into the wild and wooly world of entrepreneurship.

1990 was a bit early for IoT, so he went through the various stages of multimedia, CD-ROM, the Internet/Web, strategic consulting.  Along the way he discovered that technologies are not products.  He then started LeanPath with his friend  Andrew Shakman in 2004.  After building the first generation of LeanPath product, Stephen woodshedded for a few years  as a software consultant, leading projects in manufacturing and analytics.  He FINALLY found a viable opening in the IoT market for software products, which led to a year of R&D and then ….  the debut of CIWare Labs at CEDIA Expo 2019.

The rest… is the Future.

Mary Beth Rogers

Chief Operating Officer

Mary Beth is the Chief Operating Officer for CIWare Labs.  If something needs doing that she would do better than Stephen, she does it, and better.

As a career operations manager with a history of driving growth in manufacturing capacity and quality starting at HP and continuing through Cray Research, Infocus, MTI, UTC Aerospace, and Orbital UAV, she has built products from defibrillators to supercomputers to multimedia data projectors to retail demonstration equipment to aircraft/drone mounted video systems.

For a long time, she and Stephen wanted the opportunity to collaborate and work together on an important enterprise that had the opportunity to make a difference to ordinary (and extraordinary) people.

She joined CIWare Labs, started Gorge Logic (www.gorgelogic.com) to learn the industry and how to best apply CIWare Labs’ products.  And she hasn’t looked back….

Alvin
Pivowar

Chief Scientist

Alvin’s role is to turn ambitious software product visions into technical reality, while adding surprising, unforeseen, incredible enhancements that most people couldn’t even imagine.  Every leading edge software company needs someone like Alvin….

Alvin’s history of innovation includes writing compilers, drivers, portable device synchronization products, enterprise web applications in banking, medical and many other hardcore industries. And 50 other things, at least.

Fortunately for CIWare Labs, Alvin was captivated by Stephen’s challenge to him – lead the technical charge to build a world-class web-based control system to run on little Raspberry Pis running Linux.  He has stuck with it, and we are rapidly approaching a full market release of what became Inprem Studio.

Editorial comment:  Alvin revealed to the founding team that he once flew a Pitt Special aerobatic airplane that he helped build.  Only problem was, he has never had flying lessons.  Somehow, he lived.

Todd Bartleson

Senior Software Engineer

Todd is a core developer of the Inprem Studio product.

His experience includes 20 years building web and desktop applications, and he is expert in full stack Linux design and development.  A veteran of multiple startups, he understands how that works!

Todd is also building his business acumen, and is regularly consulted on those matters.  He has a keen interest in learning more about business development and strategy, and is getting a full dose of that here at CIWare Labs.

Michael Nelson Rizzo

Website Development

Michael develops websites, web applications, and almost anything multimedia for CIWare Labs.

20 years ago, Michael was producing award-winning advertising music and copy, before deciding to turn a passion for technology and his side-interest of website design into an agency that takes advantage of his considerable talents, as well as his marketing acumen.

His primary company is AMPLiFY Communication Design (www.weamplifyyou.com) – and integrates everything he’s learned in 30+ years of advertising, marketing, online development, social media, video, team leadership, project management, and of course, the music business.

Andrei Ochmat

Node-Red Consultant

Andrei has provided invaluable assistance in helping CIWare Labs understand Node-Red and integrate it as a front end and parallel back end to Inprem Server.

Andrei has vast experience over 20+ years working in multiple technical and management roles in international telecommunications and networking.  Expert in Node-Red, serving as consultant and teacher, Andrei aspires to introduce Node-Red as a programming discipline in Brazilian educational system.
